We rated GuitarTricks 5 stars, and placed it at #2 in our lineup, directly under Jamplay. GuitarTricks has a similar feature set to Jamplay, but Jamplay is more comprehensive, and higher quality. GuitarTricks is, however, priced lower than Jamplay and offers a 14-day free trial of their program. Overall, GuitarTricks is a great choice for learning guitar at all levels.
The massive amount of lessons on the GuitarTricks website are conveniently arranged into what they call the, "Core Learning System". This system of arrangement gives you a clear starting point, and steps you through each lesson as you progress through different "levels" of difficulty.
The process starts at Guitar Fundamentals 1, progresses to Guitar Fundamentals 2, and then branches off into different playing styles such as Blues, Country, and Rock. Each playing style then has a level 1 and a level 2 section. Furthermore, each video lesson within the section is broken into chapters.
GuitarTricks has 24 "core" instructors who teach the bulk of the lessons. On top of this, there are roughly 21 extra teachers that fill in and teach specific concepts. Each teacher is a professional musician, and have guitar skills in a variety of styles.
What does this mean for you? You wont be restricted to one teacher as you progress through the lessons. You can take your pick, and stick with the teachers you learn from best. Very cool.
