The Jamplay Website

Jamplay was founded in 2006 with a goal to build the best exclusive community for guitarists online. At the time of this writing (2012), it is clear that Jamplay has not lost sight of this ultimate goal.

The Jamplay website is extremely well designed, easy to navigate, and presents information cleanly. The members area of the service is no different. The design has been refined over the years to make it enjoyable for even the most inexperienced guitarists.

The quality of Jamplay's website and members area mirrors the quality of the lessons, lesson videos, tools, and most importantly, teachers.

How Does It Work?

The JamPlay.com video lessons are delivered via their website members area, and require no software downloading, no setup, and no special plugins. The videos are 100% compatible with both MAC and PC. Of the different courses we've tested, JamPlay is the easiest to access and has the highest quality videos.

With roughly 3,000 lessons (and counting), you may be wondering: Will I be overwhelmed with video lessons? Simply stated, definitely not. Jamplay has broken down their video lessons library into "phases".

  • PHASE 1: Beginners / Introduction To Guitar
  • PHASE 2: Building Skills, Genres
  • PHASE 3: Learning Songs

In Phase 1, you choose a path to take, either "I have Never Played Guitar", or "I am Self-Taught". Your choice helps guide you along the lessons at a speed which will remain interesting, but not overwhelming.

In Phase 2, you build on concepts learned in phase 1 and begin learning different styles/genres such as blues, fingerstyle, metal, hawaiian, bluegrass, rock, celtic, classical, country, jazz, funk, flemenco, and folk. Each one of those style sections has hundreds of lessons.

After each lesson, your progress is tracked with a detailed progress report, a feature not found in many other online guitar programs.

Teachers

One major benefit of taking guitar lessons from a private instructor is the one-on-one learning environment. Jamplay has done a wonderful job duplicating that for guitar lessons taught online. The 45 instructors who are a part of Jamplay are all notable guitar professionals. Combined, they have over 1,303 years of guitar experience in every playing style.

What does this mean for you? You wont be restricted to one teacher as you progress through the lessons. You can take your pick, and stick with the teachers you learn from best. Very cool.
